December 2007 Newsletter from dannylipford.com
Happy holidays!
This is absolutely my favorite month of the year. My oldest daughter comes in from college and, along with my other two daughters and wife, we share some great family time.
Of course, there are some perils to the holiday season. Aside from the risks to your wallet, there are a lot of accidents this time of year. So, I've included some safety tips from my website to keep in mind this season.
People ask me a lot of questions about their home and if you've got one, send it to us on video. We'll be picking the ten best "Ask Danny" questions this month and we might choose yours! You can read more about that in this newsletter.
Here's to your best home!

Don't Try This at Home
‘Tis the season for decorating your home. And that means climbing a ladder. Here are some tips to make it up and down safely.
Don't overreach. Never reach so far that your hips extend over the ladder's side rails.
Don't have your hands full. Your hands should always be free while you are on a ladder. Get someone to hand you things.
Never step on the top of the ladder or the step below. The safe standing level is the second rung from the top.
Don't leave ladders unattended. Kids love climbing them.

Save Energy; Get a Tax Break
If you purchased an Energy-Star appliance or added energy-efficient windows or insulation this year, you might get a tax credit for it. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT) offers consumers and businesses federal tax credits for purchasing energy-efficient appliances and products. Most of these tax credits remain in effect through 2007.
Find out more about it from the U.S. Department of Energy. Here are a few more tips on controlling heating costs.
