Welcome!
September is a big month. September 5th marks my 100th appearance on The Early Show on CBS. The week of September 24th, my television show, Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford® kicks off its 10th season.
September also means Labor Day, and according to a survey from Johns Manville, 20% of you homeowners are going to be laboring on a home improvement project this weekend. The best project for an immediate return on your investment is to add more attic insulation and caulk around your windows and doors. You’ll start saving money instantly on your utility bills.
Here's to your best home!

Show Us Your Shed Contest
Got a backyard shed that’s either a palace or a pigsty? Just submit a picture of its exterior and we’ll post photos of the best and worst-looking sheds on the website. Plus, winners will receive either a cool kit to organize their shed or a copy of Joe Truini's book Building a Shed. Check out our Shed Contest for details on how to enter.
Tell Us What You Think
According to last month’s poll, renovating the bathroom is the project you would most like to tackle next, followed by upgrading the kitchen. That’s understandable, given the wide range of new options that are available. We put together some helpful links to give you a hand.
Our poll this month focuses on the environment, and the changes you’re making to give Mother Nature a helping hand. From energy efficient light bulbs to conserving water, we want to know how you’re going green. To vote, visit the online poll.

Don’t Try This at Home
Just a few “don’ts” I’ve picked up over the years:
Don’t store latex paint outside where it can freeze.
Don’t take something apart without noting how to put it together again (videotape yourself and play it backwards).
Don’t operate machinery without proper ear and eye protection.
Don’t apply a finish you’re unfamiliar with without trying it on scrap first.
Don’t work on a power tool without unplugging it.
